Man City vs Chelsea LIVE: Stream, TV channel, score – De Bruyne puts hosts ahead with fantastic strike in Premier League

CHELSEA are aiming to put themselves back into the Premier League title mix when they take on Man City at the Etihad.

The Blues have got themselves back into form following their pulsating 2-2 draw with Liverpool two weeks ago at Stamford Bridge.

Thomas Tuchel’s side played with new intensity that day and have since knocked Tottenham out of the Carabao Cup 3-0 on aggregate.

And the German has made a surprise change to his starting line-up, leaving Mason Mount on the bench.

City meanwhile are in rude health and will be overwhelming favourites for the title if they can avoid defeat in this one.

    79. Finally, Thomas Tuchel has decided to bring on Chelsea’s talisman with a little over ten minutes to save a point.

    • Marcos Alonso – OFF
    • Mason Mount – ON
  • Kevin De Bruyne is king

The Belgian international could be saving the day again as Kevin De Bruyne’s goal puts Man City ahead in this top of the table clash.

  • Man City 1-0 Chelsea

    72. Kevin De Bruyne’s 74th goal in Manchester City colours has put a sigh of relief on the faces of Pep Guardiola and all the Cityzen’s in the Etihad Stadium.

As it stands, the hosts will go 13 points clear of Chelsea at the top which looks too big of a mountain to climb for the Blues.

  • Goal! – 1-0 to City!

Manchester City are finally rewarded with the goal that they have deserved thanks to a brilliant finish by their skipper Kevin De Bruyne.

He did well to dodge a few challenges following some good build-up play before placing the ball into Kepa’s bottom left-hand corner.

  • Man City 0-0 Chelsea – Chelsea changes

    67. Double positive change from the visitors as Thomas Tuchel looks to add some fresh legs and pace to that attack.

    • Hakim Ziyech – OFF
    • Chrisitan Pulisic – OFF
    • Callum Hudson-Odoi – ON
    • Timo Werner – ON
  • Man City 0-0 Chelsea

    66. It was a good delivery from Hakim Ziyech but Romelu Lukaku couldn’t make a proper connection.

That’s a little better from the Blues.

  • Man City 0-0 Chelsea

    65. Rare corner for Chelsea who have managed to get themselves up the field following a lot of pressure in this second half.

This is a huge chance for the Blues to score against the run of play.

  • Man City 0-0 Chelsea – Decent save Kepa!

    62. Kevin De Bruyne decided to go for goal as expected but Kepa inbetween the Chelsea sticks was equal to it.

In all honesty, it was an effort that he should save however we have seen them somehow end up in the back of the net.

  • Man City 0-0 Chelsea – Free-kick for City in a good position!

    61. Cesar Azpilicueta dangerously hung out a leg in front of the charging Jack Grealish which ended up bring the Englishman down not far from goal.

Kevin De Bruyne’s eyes have lit up.

  • Man City 0-0 Chelsea

    58. The Cityzen’s are beginning to take control of the game again despite Chelsea having the best chance in the second half.

A draw would normally be a good result for anybody at the Etihad but because the Blues are 10 points off the pace in the table, nothing but a win will be satisfactory for Tuchel.

Something has to change and fast.

  • A bit of strictly come dancing

Marcos Alonso and Raheem Sterling doing their best impressions of a dance routine at the Etihad stadium.

  • Man City 0-0 Chelsea

    54. Hearts were in mouth’s for the Chelsea supporters as they though Malang Sarr had committed a foul on Raheem Sterling in the box especially as the referee Craig Pawson blew his whistle.

But he blew it for offside on Kyle Walker and City are fuming.

  • Man City 0-0 Chelsea

    53. Aymeric Laporte requested for the ball to be chipped in which Kevin De Bruyne did but the Manchester City central defender was nowhere to be found so Kepa was able to come out and collect.

    That was a strange one.

  • Man City 0-0 Chelsea – Danger for Chelsea!

    51. Kyle Walker was caught by Mateo Kovacic who has already been book which has led to a free-kick in a dangerous position.

Will a set-piece do the trick for the hosts?

  • Man City 0-0 Chelsea – What a save Ederson!

    47. What a save by Ederson and what a start to this second half.

The Blues went down the other end with some good build-up play and when the ball landed at Romelu Lukaku’s left foot in a one-on-one situation with Ederson, you felt as if there was going to only be one outcome.

But the Brazilian international pulled off a magnificent save to deny Chelsea’s big summer signing.

Immediately there is a more open feel to this game.

  • Man City 0-0 Chelsea – Penalty shouts!

    46. Kevin De Bruyne skipped past the Chelsea defenders before squaring the ball across the box for Raheem Sterling.

But the Englishman went tumbling down into the goal which led to shouts for a penalty from fans but not the players.

It was checked by VAR but there was nothing in it.

  • Second half – Man City 0-0 Chelsea

We are back under-way at the Etihad and there surprsingly, there are no changes to mention for the start of the second half.

However, Mason Mount’s warm up on the touchline is a little more vigorous than the others so it seems as if Mount could come on soon.

  • The access has been denied

This is the first time that Chelsea have failed to register a single shot on goal in the first half of a Premier League fixture for the first time under Thomas Tuchel and the first time overall since May 2018 against Newcastle.

A half to forget for the Blues.

  • Opening half illustrated through numbers

More possession, more passess more shots and more corners.

Complete and utter dominance by the hosts but the statistic at the top is what really matters and that is still 0-0.

  • Summary of the first 45

Manchester City are always expected to dominate possession no matter what opposition you put in front of them, but Chelsea were not allowed any breathing space whatsoever.

Had it not of been for the legs of Kepa alongside some poor decision making in the final third, the Cityzens may have been out of sight.

But what sets up an interesting second half is that when the Blues have had the ball, they have found themselves in some really good position which is a glimpse of hope for Thomas Tuchel’s side.

It’s all to play for in the final half of this mouth-watering top of the table clash.

  • At the half-way point

Nothing to separate the sides so far as we reach the interval.

  • Half time – Man City 0-0 Chelsea

We weren’t treated to any goals in the first half but Chelsea were in need of the half-time whistle.

Manchester City completely dominated the Blues.

  • Man City 0-0 Chelsea

45+1. Romelu Lukaku has thrown his hands up in frustration for about the tenth time because when Chelsea get in good positions to cross the ball, they turn around and go back towards their own goal.

Thomas Tuchel needs to do something at the interval otherwise there is only one way this game is going to go.

  • One minute of additional time
