A Moreno Valley man was arrested early Wednesday, Nov. 27, after the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said he fired shots during a family disturbance.

Jerry Doss, 62, was arrested at 1:48 a.m. in the 13400 block of Edgemont Street on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and negligently discharging a firearm. He remained jailed Wednesday in lieu of $35,000 bail.

About 11:40 p.m., deputies responded to an apartment complex where a person was reportedly firing a gun. Deputies learned that there was a family disturbance where someone was threatened with a gun.

The suspect left the residence and fired rounds in random directions, said Deputy Robyn Flores, a department spokeswoman.

After a search of apartments, Doss was arrested with the assistance of a sheriff’s K-9.

Doss has convictions for being a felon in possession of ammunition, grand theft and possession of a dirk or dagger, Superior Court records show.
