Editor’s Note – With all the recent bad news coming out of our region regarding newspaper printing facilities, we thought we would pass along this bit of good news from our friends at The Livingston Enterprise. The Sun Times has printed at the Enterprise for the past couple of years.
LIVINGSTON – With installation of a new four-color printing tower, The Livingston Enterprise recently completed a 10-month-long project to upgrade its printing press, according to Enterprise Production Manager Tom McAndrews.
The printing tower on the multi-unit press outperforms the old setup with a 100 percent increase in speed, color, registration and clarity, and greatly increases page capacity for its print customers in Montana and the region, McAndrews said.
“The purchase is a 30-year advancement in technology,” McAndrews said.
As part of the press upgrade, The Enterprise installed bigger press motors and upgraded the system that controls them to a digital drive technology. This allows electrical technicians to make adjustments by laptop from any location.
“We’re looking to the future,” McAndrews said.
Besides The Enterprise, the press prints 30 to 35 other newspapers and publications per week.
