Liverpool transfer roundup: Reds close in on left-back as rivals join White race

The summer transfer window is in full swing following the conclusion of the Premier League campaign.

Liverpool are one of the few clubs to enter the break not in dire need of reinforcements – it’s a privileged position for Jurgen Klopp’s title-winners.

Nevertheless, as with any squad aiming to stay at the top of domestic and European football, Liverpool’s playing staff will likely be supplemented by new recruits who could add depth and quality to a handful of areas.

Here are the latest Liverpool transfer rumours.

Greek defender set for Anfield switch

Kostas Tsimikas could undergo a medical next week with talks reportedly at an advanced stage

Olympiakos full-back Kostas Tsimikas is in line for a move to Liverpool this summer after the Reds ended their pursuit of Norwich City’s Jamal Lewis, according to the Daily Express.

Tsimikas is a Greek international and currently first-choice left-back at Olympiakos, who knocked Arsenal out of the Europa League this season.

The 24-year-old has been earmarked as a back-up option for Andy Robertson, who was heavily relied upon last term with no natural replacement in the first-team squad.

A reported fee of €13million (£11.7m) may be enough to prise Tsimikas from the 45-time Greek champions, and with talks at an advanced stage he could undergo a medical next week.

Chelsea join Reds in race for White

Brighton’s Ben White is attracting a lot of interest after an impressive loan spell at Leeds

Anfield or Elland Road have been mooted as permanent destinations for in-form central defender Ben White this summer – however, Chelsea have now entered the race for his signature.

The Daily Star reports that the Blues remain “undeterred” by Brighton ’s £40m price tag for the 22-year-old.

Liverpool are believed to be monitoring White following an impressive campaign on loan at Leeds during the 2019/20 campaign.

Leeds have had £20m and £22m bids for the centre-back rejected, but Liverpool’s greater spending power could lure White to Anfield, where he would replace the departed Dejan Lovren.

Reds targeting £35m Brooks swoop

Bournemouth midfielder David Brooks has reportedly emerged as a shock target for Liverpool

Liverpool are reportedly linking up a shock £35m transfer swoop for Bournemouth midfielder David Brooks.

Jurgen Klopp is keen to add some width to the champions ahead of next term as the Reds look to back-up their first-ever Premier League title.

Brooks looks set to depart Dean Court after the Cherries were relegated, with injury curtailing the Welsh international’s involvement to just nine appearances.
