Liverpool have submitted a bid to sign Trabzonspor goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir, according to the president of the Turkish club.

The Reds have been heavily linked with a move for the 23-year-old, who made his international debut for Turkey in 2019 against Greece.

Adrian was signed from West Ham last summer to provde competition for first choice Alisson but the Reds are keen to sign a younger deputy.

Cakir is valued at around £15m by Trabzonspor and their president, Ahmet Agaoglu, has revealed that Liverpool have made a bid.

‘There are offers for Cakir, we continue to receive offers. It’s been said Liverpool have made an offer,’ said Agaoglu.

‘So a team that is undefeated in the Premier League wants my keeper. In other words Liverpool’s goalkeeper is in my goal.’

Liverpool have already signed Japanese international Takumi Minamino from Red Bull Salzburg for £7.5m.

Klopp suggested that would be the Reds’ only piece of business this January in terms of incomings but a move for Cakir could be on the cards.
