Time for a chuckle! Yesterday I opened the newspaper to enjoy my daily routine. I read that CSU was no longer admitting music education students due to lack of applicants. ( Hmm, that’s too bad.) A picture of Pleasant Valley HS Marching Band was captioned that the band may be dissolved. ( What a shame!) I saw a picture of three children “enjoying the Pioneer Day Parade downtown on Saturday.” ( Parade? I knew nothing about it!) A girl in the picture was identified with my granddaughter’s name, stating she was three years old. ( Wait, she is 12, not three, and that is certainly not her picture. Weird!)
I read an article by David Little, an opinion column titled “People on the Street” with responses to “Do You Think Pioneer Days Should Come Back to Chico?” (What’s going on? Has there been a total re-do of the paper?) Other articles addressed unhappy Comcast customers, teacher sending nude pix to 15-year old, election to replace Wally Herger (never heard of him), work on Highway 99 ( not again!). Later when my granddaughter visited, I asked if she knew her name was in the paper as a 3-year old.
“Oh, yeah,” she replied. “My dad gave me that old paper to give to my mom. It was when we went to a parade a long time ago.” That’s when I looked at the date of the paper – May 6, 2012! I had to laugh, then chuckle at how little has changed in the past nine years.
