Klopp on what Milner shouted at Henderson as he came off pitch

James Milner has appeared to joke with Jordan Henderson regarding a future at centre-half Jurgen Klopp has revealed.

Liverpool were again forced to make do at the back which meant their skipper partnering Nathaniel Phillips at West Ham.

The Reds put in an impressive display to win 3-1 with the Hammers grabbing a late consolation.

Milner was hooked on the hour mark and was suitably impressed with Henderson’s display, so much so that he thinks he might be staying there.

Klopp said: “James Milner shouted at Hendo ‘you better be careful, because if you keep playing like this, you’ll be centre-back for the rest of your career'”

Former Red Javier Mascherano transitioned from a midfielder to a centre-half in his Barcelona days.

Current Liverpool star Fabinho has also looked as comfortably at the back as he does in his usual midfield role.

Injuries to Klopp’s side have seen him use a host of different partnerships at the back, but even without several key men they were rarely troubled at the London Stadium.

The defending champions had been on a poor run, but successive wins look to have changed the mood.
