Keralite develops special UPS to ensure internet connection even during power outage – Mathrubhumi English

Kochi: Learning and working switched to online mode ever since lockdown was implemented. But everything will be in trouble during power outage. Kochi Eloor native M R Ranjith has come up with a solution to this problem.

A former radio technician in Air Force, Ranjith has developed a special UPS that supplies power to the internet modems and routers without break. Lion Power Battery Solutions (lionpowers.com), a Kochi-based battery-tech start-up initiated by Ranjith developed the device.

The Lion UPS was developed considering the difficulties of students and those who work from home when internet connection is disrupted due to power outage and voltage fluctuations, Ranjith said. Lion UPS is capable of supplying 12-volt power required for modem for 4 hours during power outage, he made it clear.

Intelligent charging control system used for battery management is the major feature of the equipment. This will help sustainability of battery by regulating the charge. The device ensures internet connectivity without break even when power is not available.

The device has one-year warranty. Lion UPS costs Rs 2000, but is available for Rs 1500 as inaugural offer. The company intends to sell 1 lakh Lion UPS in the first year, said company’s marketing partner and columnist P K Abhaykumar.
