Kaiser chiefs sell rights to their back catalogue to music investment fund Hipgnosis
Music investment fund Hipgnosis has snapped up the rights to a back catalogue of songs by British indie rock band the Kaiser Chiefs.
It has acquired the group’s first four albums, Employment, Yours Truly Angry Mob, Off With Their Heads and The Future is Medieval, from B-Unique for an undisclosed sum.
Songs include the popular hits Ruby, Every Day I Love You Less and Less and I Predict A Riot.

Hipgnosis said it had also bought the rights to greatest hits and live albums.
It comes just a week after the company, which uses investor cash to buy rights to music royalties, also acquired songs performed by Adele, Stormzy and Sam Smith.
Merck Mercuriadis, Hipgnosis’ founder, said: ‘The Kaiser Chiefs have been one of the most successful English bands of the last 15 years and it’s no secret that it’s down to great songs, great albums and a terrific live show.’
The Leeds band, released their first album in 2005 and currently consists of Ricky Wilson, Andrew White, Simon Rix, Nick Baines and Vijay Mistry.
