Jurgen Klopp was in good spirits after Liverpool were put to the test by Crystal Palace, and the Reds manager even had time to share the excitement with the supporters.

The German was seen passing beers to a group of supporters waiting outside, stepping off the team bus to spend a moment with the fans who made it to Selhurst Park for the 3-1 victory.

It was a nervy 90 minutes for Liverpool, with Palace going close on a number of occasions before a late Fabinho penalty ultimately made the result safe.

And the gesture from the manager was met with exactly the kind of excitement you would expect from a fanbase being paid a very welcome visit by a title-winning manager.

For part of the first half it looked like Liverpool would have an easy afternoon, with Virgil van Dijk heading them in front and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain doubling the lead.

However, the pressure from the home side was relentless, with Odsonne Edouard pulling one back and a number of other chances falling the way of Patrick Vieira’s side.

The late third came after a VAR call which left Vieira bemoaning his team’s luck, and the visiting fans may well have been feeling a mix of pride and relief when they were greeted by the boss.

In a video shared on social media, Klopp can be seen stepping off the coach with beers in hand, before walking over to the waiting supporters and presenting the bottles to them.

A call of “yes, lad” can be heard from one of the group, while another can be seen taking a photo on their phone.

The former Borussia Dortmund manager has been known to enjoy a beer himself, and spent time as an ambassador for German beer brand Warsteiner.

Early his Liverpool tenure Klopp was spotted enjoying a beer on a night out in Liverpool, while a number of fans approached him in Liverpool City centre in 2015 as he settled into his new surroundings by sampling the local watering holes.

Liverpool’s victory at Selhurst Park saw them close the gap to league leaders Manchester City to just nine points, and they can narrow it further if they win their game in hand.

City could only draw with Southampton in Saturday’s late kick-off, with Aymeric Laporte equalising after Kyle Walker-Peters gave their opponents a surprise early lead.

Klopp’s side have won their last two in the league, sitting on 48 points from 22 games, and they are the Premier League’s highest scorers with 58 goals.

They drew with title rivals City back in October, and the teams are not due to meet again until April.
