JD Sports first-half profit jumps on strong demand post lockdown

(Reuters) – JD Sports Fashion on Tuesday posted a surge in first-half earnings on robust demand for sneakers and sportswear as lockdowns ease, but withheld its interim dividend and hinted instead at a “larger full year dividend”.

The company, which is Britain’s largest sportswear retailer, said pretax profit rose to 364.6 million pounds ($504.53 million) for the six months ended July 31 from 41.5 million pounds a year earlier.
