iTel, Jio tie up to offer sub-4K 4G phone

Entry-level smartphone brand iTel has partnered with Reliance Jio to sell its A23 Pro smartphone at a reduced price under Rs 4000.

“With this initiative, itel and Jio users will get itel A23 Pro at an attractive price of INR 3,899 which was earlier priced at INR 4,999, thus unleashing an opportunity to truly democratize technology for all consumers,” the company said on Wednesday.

The offer can be availed at Reliance Digital Stores, MyJio Stores, and over 2 lakh retail stores beginning June 1.

The phone comes with two SIM slots wherein at least one slot data functionality is available with the Jio SIM only and the other slot is functional for other operators for non-data activities.

iTel A23 Pro customers on Jio would be entitled to benefits worth Rs. 3,000. The benefits include Rs 3,000 worth vouchers from partners on select prepaid recharge of Rs. 249 & above. This offer is applicable to new as well as existing Jio subscribers.

“This offer will accelerate penetration in a still inequitable market, bringing the power of mobility to the millions, fast-tracking the shift of vast feature phone users to their first smartphones,” said Arijeet Talapatra, CEO, TRANSSION India.

He added that the phone will disrupt the entry-level smartphone segment, making a 4G device accessible to all.
