Ms Jones, who holds the same position at the fund management group, is already a non-executive director at RSA and will take up her new role in the summer.
She replaces Scott Egan, who has just become head of RSA’s troubled UK & International business where a profit warning last year led to the departure of Steve Lewis.
Paul De’Ath, analyst at Shore Capital, said: “We would not expect any change to the ongoing strategy of the group from the appointment given that Ms Jones has been part of the decision-making process in her previous role as non-executive.”
Maarten Slendebroek, Jupiter’s chief executive said it was “disappointing to lose someone of Charlotte’s calibre”.
Her departure comes at a delicate time for the fund manager. Mr Slendebroek himself is about to depart, and short sellers have been increasing their bets against the company.
