HMRC: Britons urged to act as many get up to £2,000 a year in tax-free childcare help

“A childcare top-up will go a long way towards helping parents plan and pay for summer activities to keep their kids happy and healthy.

“To find out more, search ‘tax-free childcare’ on GOV.UK.”

Tax-Free Childcare is becoming an increasingly popular option for working parents, with more than 282,000 families using their account in March 2021.

This was the highest recorded number of families in any one launch since the scheme commenced in April 2017.

Eligibility for Tax-Free Childcare is dependent on a number of factors, including working status, income, child’s age and immigration status.

People can usually receive the sum if they and their partner, if they have one, are in work, on sick or annual leave, or on parental leave.
