Are you selling your home “off market”?

Increasingly, estate agents are giving homeowners the choice not to list their properties on portals such as Rightmove or Zoopla, but to sell them off market instead. But what does this mean exactly? And will it really get you the best price?

Marketing discreetly in this way has been how trophy homes have been bought and sold in the UK for generations. But as the property market adjusts to higher interest rates, a growing number of mainstream homes are being traded in this way — or so estate agents claim.

If you have recently sold your house off market, plan to — or think the trend is just another estate agents’ marketing ploy — we’d love to hear from you. Please get in touch, in confidence, by emailing money@ft.com.
