GSTN enables fresh registration for IRPs

NEW DELHI: The Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) said it has enabled fresh registration for interim resolution professionals (IRPs) managing companies undergoing insolvency proceedings on its portal.

“This facility will benefit the companies which are undergoing the corporate insolvency resolution process and whose management affairs are being undertaken by IRPs,” GSTN said in a statement on Sunday.

The move follows a directive from the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs on mandatory new registration for IRPs on behalf of corporate debtors within 30 days from their appointment or by June 30, 2020. IRPs have to apply for the new registration in each of the states or Union Territories where the corporate debtor was registered earlier.
