Govt pensioners can submit Jeevan Pramaan Patra or annual life certificate till Dec 31, 2021

The last date for government pensioners to submit their annual life certificate or Jeevan Pramaan Patra has been extended to December 31, 2021. The usual yearly deadline for submission is November 30. This extension will give those government pensioners who are yet to submit their annual life certificate 30 more days to do the needful. It is essential for pensioners to submit their life certificate on time to ensure that they continue to receive pension.

The Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare announced the extension via an office memorandum dated December 1, 2021.

As per the office memorandum, “In view of the on-going Covid-19 pandemic in various states and keeping in view of the vulnerability of elderly population to coronavirus, it has now been decided to extend the existing timeline for submission of life certificate for all age group of pensioners from 30/11/2021 onwards. Now, all central government pensioners may submit life certificate till 31 December 2021. During this extended period, the pension will be continued to be paid by the Pension Disbursing Authorities (PDA) uninterrupted.”

The extension can prevent rush at bank branches and can make sure that covid-19 appropriate behaviour is maintained while obtaining life certificates. PDAs shall also ensure proper arrangements and social distancing measures at the branches and prevent overcrowding, said the memorandum.

It is important to note that pensioners aged above 80 years of age can submit life certificate from October 1 onwards every year. Other government pensioners can submit the life certificate starting from November 1 every year.

However, those receiving pension from the Employees’ Pension Scheme, 1995, then they can submit life certificate anytime before the expiry of one year, throughout the year.
