August 30 2019
In the US, enterprise analytics specialist ThoughtSpot has raised $248m in an oversubscribed round of funding, which it will use to invest in its teams in North America, EMEA and APAC and in customer and thought leadership events; and to expand its R&D.
ThoughtSpot enables businesses to instantly analyze billions of rows of data, and use artificial intelligence to get insights pushed to them as answers to thousands of questions. Since its Series D funding, the firm has opened new offices in Singapore, Tokyo, Dusseldorf, and invested $25m in its location in Bangalore, India.
The latest funding comes from new investor Silver Lake Waterman, with participation from existing backers Lightspeed Venture Partners, Sapphire Ventures and Geodesic Capital. This brings the company’s total funding to date to $554m.
CEO Sudheesh Nair (pictured) comments: ‘When I see the work our customers like Walmart, BT, and Daimler are doing with ThoughtSpot to transform their critical functions like supply chain or customer service, I’m incredibly inspired, but I also realize how much unlocked potential remains when it comes to data-driven insights. As technology partners to our customers, we have only one job: provide the agility that’s like oxygen to these organizations so they can compete and win’.
