Fraudsters offered courses on crypto-trading, woman duped of ₹3.7L in Doon – The Times of India

Dehradun: A woman from Dehradun’s Patel Nagar was allegedly duped of Rs 3.7 lakh on the pretext of learning crypto and stock trading in a seminar held by fraudsters.According to police, three accused, who identified themselves as Bhavik Chedda, Umang Gogri and Swaraj Singh, had first contacted her on an instant messaging app and then invited her to attend an online seminar on crypto-mining and trading through their trading platform called IX Global LLC.Inspector Kamal Kumar Lunthi of Patel Nagar police station, who is investigating the case, said after she agreed to register herself for the course, she also attended seminars on the same subject in Dehradun.“They charged monthly fees for classes and offered the opportunity to trade on their platform in cryptocurrencies with a promise of 4-5% gains every month. Falling into their trap, she deposited money for which she initially received the returns as promised by the cyber conmen. However, once she invested a large amount (Rs 3.7 lakh), they restricted her from withdrawing money. On realising she had been duped, she lodged a complaint on which a fraud case had been registered by police,” said Lunthi adding that an ivestigation is on to nab the accused.
