Fire closes Riverside County social services office in Lake Elsinore – Press-Enterprise


A fire on Friday, March 5, damaged a Riverside County Department of Social Services office in Lake Elsinore, prompting it to close indefinitely.

The fire was reported at about 3:45 a.m. in the 1400 block of Minthorn Street. The building suffered damage from flames, smoke and water, Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department said.

No one was in the building at the time and no injuries were reported, Cal Fire said. The cause was not announced.

The office provides assistance with Adult Services, Children’s Services and the department’s Self Sufficiency program, which helps the public obtain food, money and health insurance, the county said in a news release.

The public can receive those services online, on the phone and at the Temecula and Perris offices. Other locations are noted on the department website, dpss.co.riverside.ca.us/office-locations.
