ETMarkets Investors' Guide: Will the stock market correction drag out to the New Year?

Welcome to ETMarkets’ Investors Guide, a show about asset classes, market trends, and investment opportunities. This is Bhaskar Dutta.

The sentiment on Dalal Street is one of confusion. While the benchmark indices have managed to recover some lost ground this week, they still remain some way off their record highs.

Confusion over the impact of the new COVID-19 variant and the sudden hawkishness displayed by the US Federal Reserve have dimmed the risk appetite of investors.

ETMarkets’ Chiranjivi Chakraborty caught up with Rajesh Cheruvu, chief investment officer at Validus Wealth Management to figure out if the correction will be lengthy, sentiment among his clients and opportunities for investments. Cheruvu manages assets worth $1 billion for a fast-growing client base.

Listen in!

Q. We seem to be in the midst of the first tangible correction in the market. What is driving this and are you expecting more weakness going ahead?

Q. When the market was at an all-time high there was still a lot of money on the sidelines especially among HNIs and Ultra HNIs. Have you seen them take advantage of this dip?

Q. There are a lot of conflicting signals coming from the market be it equities, debt or even currency. How important a role does positioning play in such volatile times?

Q. The international market has been an area of great interest these last two years. How are you advising your clients on overseas investments?

Thank you Chiranjivi and Mr. Cheruvu for a very intriguing conversation.
