Emily Blunt and Anne Hathaway brutally mock Meryl Streep during Devil Wears Prada reunion

The Devil Wears Prada cast reunited on the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards stage Saturday night – and audience members and viewers at home absolutely loved it.

Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Emily Blunt strutted on the stage to present the award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series at 2024 SAG Awards.

Streep walked on stage and nearly fell over while trying to get to the microphone.

When she straightened herself she laughed and said: “Two things, I forgot my glasses, clearly, and the envelope.”

That’s when Blunt walked on stage with the envelope along with Hathaway, who carried Streep’s glasses.

The film – which was inspired by Weisberger’s experiences working under Vogue’s Anna Wintour – features Streep in her unforgettable role as Miranda Priestly, a cunning yet respected magazine editor.

Streep’s portrayal of Priestly earned her a SAG Award nomination 17 years ago.

The Devil Wears Prada achieved criticsal and commercial success, grossing $327 million worldwide and earning two Oscar nominations.

Reflecting on the film’s impact, Streep told EW in 2021: “This is the first movie [where] men have come up to me and said, ‘I know how you felt; I have a company, and nobody understands me. It’s really hard.’”

This year’s SAG Awards marked a significant moment for the event and for Netflix.

This was the first time the awards show was streamed live on the platform’s main channel in the US.

After a long-standing partnership with TNT that began in 1998 and a TBS simulcast that ran until 2022, Netflix premiered the SAG Awards on its YouTube channel last year.

This year’s awards ceremony was also momentous because it was the first following the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes that took place last summer.

After 118 days on strike, SAG-AFTRA finally reached a tentative agreement to restart Hollywood.

The agreement came after a string of negotiations with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) – a group that represents over 350 major studios and networks including Netflix, Prime Video, HBO, Paramount and 20th Century Fox.

The deal is valued at $1 billion.

The SAG strike first came into effect in July, with negotiations starting three months later on October 2nd.

Among the major terms negotiated, the AMPTP and SAG-AFTRA clashed over the proposal for payments over streaming subscribers, in a similar manner to residual deals made on network television.

Other elements that caused the strike was the prospect of the use of artificial intelligence, in which actors’ likeness could be used ‘in perpetuity’ by a company with no extra pay.
