Elks announce winners in district Hoop Shoot contest in Riverside – Press-Enterprise

The city of Riverside recently partnered with the Riverside Elks Lodge to host the 50th anniversary Hoop Shoot free-throw contest, held at the Orange Terrace Community Center in Riverside.

In the contest for children ages 8 to 13, each participant shoots 25 free throws. Winners are the boy and girl in each age group with the highest number of baskets.

The contestants in the Dec. 11 hoop shoot represented four of the lodges in the Elks’ Southeast District — Riverside, Moreno Valley, Fontana-Rialto and Ontario.

Winners in the 8- to 9-year-old division are Noah Pinkard, representing the Fontana-Rialto Elks Lodge, and Kira Lea, representing the Riverside Elks Lodge.

Winners in the 10- to 11-year-old division are Nathan Pacheco, Ontario Elks Lodge, and Kyla Lea, Riverside.

Winners in the 12- to 13-year-old division are Noah Ramgel, Riverside, and Madilyn Hidalgo, Ontario.     .

They will go on to the Semi-State contest to be held Feb. 12 in La Habra, according to a news release.

The Hoop Shoot is a national Elks program, with the national finals scheduled April 30.

Leslie Fisher is chairman of the program for the California-Hawaii Elks Association’s Southeast District.
