But there are many de-icing myths which could damage your vehicle and end up costing thousands to repair.

All sorts of weird and wonderful claims have been made in recent weeks, from using oranges to spraying a mixture of vinegar and water.

However, a safer bet are the options on the market if homemade remedies and hacks just aren’t up to the job.
