'Egyptian oasis': Yaz's Boutique Cafe and Bakery opens in Abington – Enterprise News

ABINGTON – An “Egyptian oasis” straight out of “Aladdin” has found its way into Abington, bringing a twist of northern African and Mediterranean cuisine and freshly baked treats and hot coffee to the area.

If you like Yaz’s Table entrees, you’ll love Yaz’s Table Boutique Café and Bakery.

When you step inside, it’s a whole new world, with Egyptian artifacts, couch cushions, textiles imported from Morocco, hand-made tapestries hanging on the wall, and hieroglyphics all over the sink.

This isn’t like any restaurant in the area.

You will “feel like you’re in ancient Egypt.” The colors are bright and bold, and the smell of fudge cake pops dance in the air.

“The boutique is Yaz’s Table’s teenage daughter in a sense,” Yasmine Zakhary, owner of Yaz’s Boutique Café and Bakery, said.

Customers can find the bakery next to Yaz’s Table at 1209 Bedford St., Abington.

The new bakery gives customers waiting for a seat at Yaz’s Table restaurant a nice hot cup of coffee and a chance to win a lifelong prize of free donut holes if you win the golden ticket stuffed inside the croissants. Each day, there is one winner.

In addition to the prizes, every Wednesday, the café offers a free cookie with your purchase of a caramel macchiato.

What’s on the menu

Not only are the pastries tasty, but the menu also has smoothies, immunity-boosting shots in several flavors, acai bowls, and made-to-order hot sandwiches.

Indulge in the unique flavor combinations:

  • Royal Lox croissant – smoked salmon, house-made veggie cream cheese, capers, ribboned cucumber, and bib lettuce.
  • Halloumi & Basterma croissant – Egyptian prosciutto, halloumi cheese.
  • Sausage, egg & cheese croissant – house-made sausage, baked eggs, cheddar cheese, sweet heat maple syrup.
  • Pistachio Cheesecake croissant- plan croissant filled with pistachio cheesecake and topped with baklava dust.

If you’re busy and on the way to work, call the café and place your order over the phone.

The best part about the restaurant is that nothing goes to waste; Zahkary donates all leftover food to various organizations and local law enforcement.

In the future, you can look forward to new cooking episodes with Zahkary and her mascot, Mr. Camel Macchiato.

Last week, they whipped up a batch of brownie cake pops and had more adventures to come, she said.

What the future holds

Customers can anticipate new Yaz’s Boutique Café and Bakery locations opening around the South Shore soon.

“The business is special to me,” Zahkary said.

Being raised in Abington as a migrant from Egypt, there weren’t any places to remind young Zakhary of home.

She built her restaurants on the nostalgia of the mother land and wanting to have a dinner table big enough for everyone to enjoy delicious food. This has always been Zakhary’s dream since eight years old.

Now, those childhood dreams have come true, and she hopes to share a slice of home with everyone.
