DUNDEE UNITED V CELTIC
Good morning and a very warm welcome to Tannadice as SunSport takes you through the lunchtime kick-off between Dundee United and Celtic.
It’s a game between a team that has a lot to play for and a chance at a successful season – and the Parkhead side.
Yesterday’s 3-0 win for Rangers means any Celtic slip up today and the ten-in-a-row dream is officially over. Officially.
Delaying the inevitable is not something interim boss John Kennedy is thinking of. He said the Hoops must only think about themselves.
Kennedy instead appears to have turned attention to the Scottish Cup which is set to resume this month.
The Hoops won the delayed and dramatic 2020 Cup final against Hearts on penalties in December to complete the quadruple domestic treble, and their temporary boss is pleased to have the chance to finish the season on a high.
With Aberdeen and Hibs dropping points yesterday, Celtic are completely isolated in 3rd place, 15 clear of the Hibees and 21 behind the runaway leaders.
United still have a lot to play for though.
They may have been a tad fortunate to leave Kilmarnock with a point last weekend but a lunchtime clash with a chance to take the scalp of Celtic is something you pick yourself up for.
The Tayside club also have realistic ambitions of reaching the top six as they sit four points off St Mirren in sixth – with today’s game in hand.
Defeat today though and that hope is gone, so it really is win or bust.
Nine points clear of Hamilton in 11th spot – and two teams between themselves and that spot – you’d think survival was near enough assured.
We get underway at noon but stay with us as we bring team news and build-up!
