A man driving in Lincoln Park was shot and then crashed his car early Monday morning, San Diego police said.

The victim was driving on South 47th Street near Oceanview in Lincoln Park shortly after 3 a.m. when he was shot, said police Sgt. Keelan McCullough. A witness called 911 to report hearing three gunshots and then a crash, he said.

When police arrived they found the victim had been shot twice. Medics responded and the man was rushed to a hospital to be treated.

His wounds were not believed to be life threatening, McCullough said.

It was not known what led up to the shooting. It also was unclear whether the shooter was in another car or fired from the street.
