Donald Trump to take on Joe Biden on television. When and where you can watch 2024 US Presidential Debate

As the 2024 US Presidential Election comes closer, Joe Biden and Donald Trump have agreed to hold a televised presidential debate on June 27, to be aired on CNN. The second debate will take place on September 10 and ABC will host it. The president took to social media platform X to challenge the former president. In the video uploaded along with the post, he said, “Donald Trump lost two debates to me in 2020. Since then, he hasn’t shown up for a debate.” He said further, “Now, he’s acting like he wants to debate me again. Well, make my day, pal. I’ll even do it twice. So let’s pick the dates, Donald. I heard you’re free on Wednesdays.”

Debate in swing state

Announcing the debate on Tuesday, CNN said it would take place in the key swing state of Georgia. Earlier in the day, Biden proposed two televised debates in June and September. Accepting the challenge, the Trump campaign team said that there should be more than just two opportunities for the American people to hear more from the candidates themselves. He said, “I would strongly recommend more than two debates and, for excitement purposes, a very large venue, although Biden is supposedly afraid of crowds. That’s only because he doesn’t get them.”

Joe Biden taunts Donald Trump

The nature of the debate became clear when Biden taunted his rival and said Trump was “free on Wednesdays”, a reference to his criminal trial in New York. Trump hit back by claiming that his rival was the “worst debater” who “can’t put two sentences together”.

To bypass the Presidential Debate Commission?

The two debates will bypass the presidential debate commission, which since 1988 has scheduled timings and had already set dates and locations for three debates in the autumn. Further, media reports suggest Biden’s team wants the two televised debates to be conducted with no live audience.
