Dodgers' three solo home runs are enough to beat Rockies – Press Enterprise – California News Times

Los Angeles >> The Dodgers are not currently firing on all aggressive cylinders.

A two-cylinder engine was enough on Sunday.

After the Dodgers beat the Colorado Rockies 3-2, Chris Taylor hit two home runs and Will Smith hit another home run to draw 2-2 as 42,621 spectators were announced at Dodger Stadium.

Smith’s home run was his fourth in his last seven games. Two of them opposed the Rocky Mountains. The latest has allowed the Dodgers (61-40) to win two out of three games at home against the Rocky Mountains (43-56).

Next is Monday’s holiday, followed by an important three-game series against the number one Giants (62-37) in San Francisco.

Taylor started scoring on a home run at the Dodgers’ first at-bat, with Rocky starter John Gray in his right field. It was his eighth career lead-off home run and his second this season.

In the fifth inning, Taylor took Gray deeper again — again with a breaking ball that caught much of the strike zone. His 16 home runs in 2021 tied the game 2-2.

Smith was looking for a fastball from Carlos Esteves and got it in the 8th inning on the first pitch he saw from Carlos Esteves (2-2).

In addition to his 14th home run this season, Smith took a walk as a Dodgers cleanup batter. Taylor went 3-4 from the lead-off spot. The rest of the team went to 3 for 24 with 6 strikeouts.

Colorado made a run in the first inning with Dodgers starter Josiah Gray and took a 2-1 lead for the second time with a solo home run from Elias Diaz.

Gray allowed two runs in four innings on his second career start. He walked four batters and hit six.

Jimmy Nelson, Brusdar Graterol, Phil Bickford and Joe Kelly did not allow a run in five innings. Kelly overcame CJ Cron’s swing bunt single and started nine times to save for the first time in the season.
