The distillery behind Kew Gardens Gin has today launched a crowdfunding campaign to capitalise on optimism around hospitality’s reopening.

The East London Liquor Company, which produced London’s first rye whisky in over a century, will look to recreate 2018 fundraising success when it raised £1m in 36 hours.

Its second attempt will see it try to raise £750,000 at a £26m valuation to expand the business.

The company promises artisan gin sold at supermarket prices.

It has benefited from the growth of home mixology in the pandemic, growing online sales by 125 per cent.

But its export business was hit by the closure of bars and restaurants.
