Cristiano Ronaldo is a big fan of new Manchester United signing Bruno Fernandes.
That’s according to Rio Ferdinand, who claims he had a chat with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, who heaped praise on the Portugal international.
Man United parted with £46.6million plus up to £21.2million in add-ons for Fernandes, with the signing being announced on Thursday.
The midfielder is tasked with turning the Red Devils’ season around as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer attempts to secure Champions League football for next campaign with a top-four finish.
It’s a tough job for any player, but United legend Ferdinand is confident Fernandes will hit the ground running at Old Trafford, simply because Ronaldo rates him so highly.
On Fernandes’ key attributes, and what he’ll bring to the table, Ferdinand revealed what Ronaldo had to say about the Portuguese.
“I’ve spoken to a few of his teammates at national level and club level,” Ferdinand told FIVE.
“Cristiano said he’s fantastic, creates chances for him [for Portugal]. He can manipulate the ball, take the ball, confident.
“These is the type of things that you want to hear when Manchester United are signing a player.
“So fans, based on what I’ve heard about him and what I’ve seen, I’m hopeful and confident that this guy can go out there and do the job.”
He added: “Nani, my old teammate, says he’s a fantastic player, says he’s perfect for England. Says he’s got all the tools, all the right attributes.
