Cristiano Ronaldo breaks 60-year record with strike against Torino

Cristiano Ronaldo said he still wanted to break records when he moved to Juventus with the highest ever price tag for a player over 30 years old.

And the 100million euro man added a couple more to his collection against Torino on Saturday thanks to his fourth goal in as many games.

The Portuguese’s trademark free kick in the Turin derby marked his 25 th goal of the campaign – remarkably, a tally which no one at Juventus had reached in almost six decades.

Ronaldo is their first player to score 25 goals in a single Serie A season since 1961.

Fittingly then, the record-breaking goal came in the 61 st minute of the match, securing victory over their local rivals for Maurizio Sarri’s side, who are seven points clear of Lazio at the top of the table with eight rounds of fixtures left to play.

It was also the first free kick Ronaldo had managed to convert for Juventus.

His set-piece drought never put the showman off taking them, though, and he was finally rewarded with his first goal after 43 attempts.
