There’s Room For Your Visiting Loved One. For Now.
BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) — Good news for all of the families who insisted on having elderly loved ones travel to South Florida for Thanksgiving: there is currently room in Palm Beach County ICUs for your parents or grandparents when they experience breathing problems. The bad news: the numbers are rising.
As of early Tuesday morning, at least 235 people are hospitalized in Palm Beach County with what the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration calls, “a primary diagnosis of COVID-19.” The 235 is lower than the summer spike, but higher than we’ve seen in recent weeks. The number was in the low 100s a short time ago.
The hospitals that traditionally show high ICU occupancy rates — including West Boca Raton Medical Center, Boca Raton Regional Hospital, Delray Medical Center and Bethesda West are all showing availability at 25 percent or higher. The 25 percent availability mark is considered the line watched closely by healthcare officials.
