Conor McGregor will make his long-awaited comeback to UFC against Donald Cerrone in January, according to Dana White.

McGregor has not stepped into the octagon since suffering a defeat to Khabib Nurmagomedov in October 2018.

But the Irishman has ‘signed’ a deal to fight American star Cerrone in Las Vegas, according to UFC chief White.

The non-title welterweight bout will feature on UFC 246 on January 18 at the T-Mobile Arena.

‘Conor has signed and Cowboy is ready to go,’ White told ESPN.

If McGregor beats Cerrone, a rematch with Khabib could be on the cards but the Russian has suggested McGregor would dodge such an opportunity.

‘Honestly I don’t think he wants that fight,’ Khabib said. ‘I beat him up for four rounds. I beat him and choked him and he tapped.

‘It was a sign he didn’t want to be there, ‘let me go please’ and all that. And now he wants the rematch.

‘Just talking is one thing, but when it comes to doing it, he’s completely different. So for me there are no kind of announcements or insults. He’s an idiot.’
