Chelsea are preparing a move for Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Roman Burki as a replacement for Kepa Arrizabalaga, according to reports.

The Spain international, who was signed for £71.6 million in 2018, has struggled for form this season and was dropped by Frank Lampard for five Premier League games before the coronavirus pandemic halted the season.

Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge and it appears the 24-year-old will be leaving the Dutch club in the next transfer window.

But according to The Sun, Chelsea are now targeting a deal for Dortmund’s No.1 Burki.

The report claims that the 29-year-old is keen on joining the Premier League and could be available for just £15m as he has just one year left on his contract with the Bundesliga club.

Meanwhile, Kepa insists he has the full backing of Lampard despite his dip in form this season.

‘We play 50 or 60 games a year and it is difficult to stay on the same level,’ the 25-year-old said in an interview with Marca earlier this month.

‘The important thing is to be very clear about the objective, to work and put everything into improving. There may be obstacles along the way, but when you have a clear objective, it is easier.

‘The only thing that can be done, in these cases, is to take it professionally, respectfully and work harder to turn it around.

‘The relationship with Frank is very good.

‘He has shown me confidence from the first moment.

‘He must make decisions, but I feel I have his confidence, both his and that of the whole club. We all like to play in every game.’
