Chelsea are willing to make Romelu Lukaku the highest paid player in the club’s history in order to entice him away from Inter Milan this summer.

The Belgian is happy at the San Siro and had planned on staying in Italy for at least another season, having attracted attention from Manchester City in March.

However, Inter’s financial situation means they may have to sell the former Manchester United star this summer in order to raise funds and they know they could fetch around £100m by cashing in on Lukaku.

Inter would rather sell off another of their assets, such as Argentina striker Lautaro Martinez.

Chelsea have already seen two bids for Lukaku rejected by Inter but the Telegraph claim they’re willing to offer a huge financial package to the forward that would make him the best paid player in the club’s history.

The Blues are reportedly ready to offer Lukaku a basic salary of around £250,000-a-week, which would put him ahead of the likes of Kai Havertz and N’Golo Kante at Stamford Bridge.

While Lukaku is happy in Italy, he’s made provisional arrangements over returning to the UK by looking at houses in London should a move to Chelsea materialise.

The move would see Lukaku return to Chelsea seven years after he was sold to Everton.
