Chelsea are set to lose out in the race to sign Achraf Hakimi as the Inter defender is prioritising a move to Paris Saint-Germain, according to reports in France.

Chelsea have already had a €60 million (£51.5m) offer for the Morocco international rejected by Inter, while PSG have also seen the same bid turned down.

Inter are open to selling some of their key players in the current window in order to raise funds and value Hakimi, whose impressive versatility means he is adept at playing on either flank, at around €80m (£68.7m).

Hakimi moved to Inter in a €40m (£36m) deal from Real Madrid last year and played a key role in the team’s successful Serie A campaign under Antonio Conte.

But the 22-year-old now looks set to depart and reports in France claim that PSG have edged ahead of Chelsea.

According to RMC Sport, PSG ‘accelerated’ their talks to sign Hakimi on Friday and are now hopeful that a revised offer of €70m (£60.1m), which includes bonuses, will be enough to convince Inter.

The report also claims that Hakimi’s personal preference would be to join PSG ahead of Chelsea.

Speaking earlier this week Hakimi’s agent, Alejandro Camano, confirmed that Inter are looking to sell the player.

‘The only one who is going to leave Inter for now is Hakimi, who I also represent,’ said Camano.

‘[With Lautaro] there is still no clear situation. [But Hakimi] he is going.’
