Carlo Ancelotti addresses Napoli sack fears amid links to Arsenal and Everton

Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed he will hold talks with the Napoli board amid speculation he will be sacked.

The former Chelsea boss finds himself under pressure after a poor winless run, although Napoli did bounce back to beat Genk in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Reports in Italy before the game suggested Gennaro Gattuso has been lined up to replace Ancelotti and has even agreed terms on a deal.

It comes as Ancelotti emerges as a possible contender for the vacant manager jobs at Arsenal and Everton .

Speaking after the match, Ancelotti insisted he would not resign but admitted he is unsure of his future.

“Will I be on the touchline on Saturday? I hope so but we’ll see with the board tomorrow,” Ancelotti said.

“We will discuss the situation at the moment and make the right decision for Napoli.

“I have no decisions to make. The president will decide whether to move forward or not.

“I will never resign. I have never done it in my career and never will.”

Ancelotti was also asked how the situation compares to a similar one at Bayern Munich, when he was sacked after clashing with the board.

He added: “These are two different situations. There was a clash with the club and I thought a change of the old guard was needed.

“Here is another issue. It is a problem that the team have not expressed the best qualities, but not because there are frictions with me.”
