“In each distressed county, THEC staff convened stakeholders from K12 schools, postsecondary institutions, business and industry, local workforce boards, and representatives from the Tennessee Board of Regents, Department of Economic and Community Development, and Labor and Workforce Development to discuss career and technical education and alignment with the needs of business and industry. The initial meetings were held this winter in person, while the subsequent meetings were held over WebEx this summer. The goal of these meetings was to discuss the institutions’ SPARC grants, opportunities for CTE dual enrollment, and increasing postsecondary access for the citizens of these counties.”
