© Reuters. Canada shares lower at close of trade; S&P/TSX Composite down 0.59% – Canada equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the , and sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Toronto, the declined 0.59%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the were Pan American Silver Corp (TSX:), which rose 9.17% or 3.40 points to trade at 40.49 at the close. First Majestic Silver Corp. (TSX:) added 7.17% or 0.92 points to end at 13.76 and B2Gold Corp (TSX:) was up 6.45% or 0.46 points to 7.59 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Canopy Growth Corp (TSX:), which lost 20.13% or 6.030 points to trade at 23.920 in late trade. Laurentian Bank Of Canada (TSX:) declined 9.14% or 2.86 points to end at 28.44 and Hexo Corp (TSX:) shed 8.60% or 0.080 points to 0.850.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 517 to 514 and 103 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0% to 11.27.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.05% or 18.05 to $1731.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 4.95% or 1.67 to hit $35.38 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 4.75% or 1.71 to trade at $37.74 a barrel.

CAD/USD was down 0.08% to 0.7259, while CAD/EUR fell 0.27% to 0.6539.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 98.305.
