Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher.

The biggest gainers of the session on the were Trillium Therapeutics Inc (TSX:), which rose 12.02% or 2.22 points to trade at 20.69 at the close. Intertape Polymer Group Inc . (TSX:) added 6.59% or 1.33 points to end at 21.51 and Aphria Inc (TSX:) was up 5.68% or 0.405 points to 7.535 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Altus Group Limited (TSX:), which lost 11.55% or 6.64 points to trade at 50.86 in late trade. Inter Pipeline Ltd (TSX:) declined 4.91% or 0.65 points to end at 12.60 and Fortuna Silver Mines Inc (TSX:) shed 3.51% or 0.34 points to 9.35.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 610 to 373 and 99 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0% to 11.27.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.59% or 11.10 to $1884.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 2.16% or 0.89 to hit $40.23 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 1.49% or 0.65 to trade at $42.88 a barrel.
CAD/USD was up 0.03% to 0.7611, while CAD/EUR fell 0.19% to 0.6432.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.23% at 92.740.
