Business Career Center Receives Gift From Enterprise Mobility … – UHD News

UHD’s Marilyn Davies College of Business (MDCOB) recently received a $10,000 donation to support business students from the Enterprise Mobility Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Enterprise Mobility.

A long-time supporter of MDCOB, the Enterprise Mobility Foundation initially lent support to the UHD American Marketing Association (AMA) student chapter. When the MDCOB Career Center opened in May 2014, Enterprise Mobility Foundation began to add the Career Center to its list of annual recipients.

“Enterprise has always had good success recruiting MDCOB students as interns and full-time employees,” said Brett Hobby, Director of the MDCOB Career Center. “They realize the importance of visibility, involvement, and support but also the quality of our students. They love that our students can juggle work and school and still be great candidates.”

Hobby noted that Enterprise has a history of promoting from within. “The firm recognizes the entrepreneurial spirit naturally present in our students, so they know they’re building that base of good employees to continue ‘growing their own.’”

The funds will be used in a multitude of ways, depending on the need, Hobby said. Scholarships that allow students to attend national conferences are a significant way to put opportunity in their path. “Many, many of our students get interviews at national conferences and subsequent internships or jobs,” Hobby explained. “Not only do the students get access to firms who don’t recruit on our campus, many firms start recruiting here after meeting our students at national conferences. They’re that impressed with the candidates they see coming out of UHD.”

For those who want to help support the Career Center, “It’s easy!” Hobby said. “Details on our Employer Partnership Program can be found online along with details on individual giving.” Examples of how past employer partner funds have been used include events like the Student Organization Mixer & Pizza Party and company-branded leather portfolios for students to use at interviews.

But, Hobby, emphasizes, any gift can be used as specified by the donor. “However the donor wants their gift distributed, we are happy to do that,” he said, adding, “We’re grateful for all support for our students, and especially grateful to the Enterprise Mobility Foundation for their consistent support year over year. They are the kind of partner that help make our students successful.”
