These weekly lists of tidbits and food finds are not restaurant reviews but they go beyond a bare-bones round-up. Staff writer Alisha Saint-Ciel gives tips and takes to help Brockton-area foodies find those mouth-watering hidden gems, old favorites and exciting new offerings.
Khalil’s Kitchen, located at 880 Main St., is known for its crispy loaded fried, but the owner Rudy Alves added something new to the menu: chopped cheese.
A chopped cheese is a New York-style steak and cheese sub. Alves brought the sandwich onto the menu to add more spice in Brockton due to its popularity in NYC. The restaurant has more items, including burgers, fries topped with protein, wings, smoothies and tacos, and some of the dishes feature lobster, like mac and cheese.
The restaurant also offers a bogo sale: buy one sandwich, get one free. Stop in today, taste the chopped cheese, and tell them Brockton Eats with Alisha sent you!

Cape Code Café
Cape Code Café, located at 979 Main St, Brockton, serves up a one-of-a-kind sandwich, the Ando burger, a half-pound certified Angus beef burger topped with American cheese and served between two mini-cheese pizzas.
The restaurant only sells this sandwich in its Brockton location.
It may look like high cholesterol on a sandwich, but from locals who’ve tried it, it is something “worth” tasting. The burger and the two small pizzas perfectly harmonize cheesy, meaty goodness. So, who needs real buns? Not locals in Brockton. We’d prefer cheese pizza.

Barrett’s Alehouse, located at 425 Bedford St., Bridgewater, may have what you need when it comes to a piping hot burger dripping with handcrafted sauces. The Jack Daniels stacked with pepper jack cheese, onion rings, bacon, lettuce, tomato, onions, JD sauce, and a burger patty might change your life. The local American establishment offers different meals besides a classic burger or, even better, the JD burger. Customers may enjoy bar pizza, wings, French onion soup, Caesar salad, mac and cheese, scallops and pumpkin ravioli, fish tacos and many more.
