Boris Johnson has compared himself to OJ Simpson while struggling to put on a pair of gloves on a visit to a vaccination centre.
In a bizarre moment, the Prime Minister was caught on camera battling to put on protective gloves at a mass vaccination hub in south Wales.
As a staff member asked if he needed a different sized glove, he quipped: “I got it, I got it. It’s like OJ Simpson.”
The shamed American football star famously tried on a pair of gloves at his trial for the murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ron Goldman in 1995.
Simpson was acquitted after one of the most high-profile celebrity trials in history and continued to proclaim his innocence.
But he was later ordered to pay compensation after the families of the victims won a civil suit.
Simpson was asked to try on a pair of gloves found at the crime scene during the trial, which he struggled to fit over his hands.
His lawyer Johnnie Cochran famously said: “If it doesn’t fit, you must acquit”.
Mr Johnson’s unscripted moment came as he visited a vaccination centre in Cwmbran, south Wales, where he set out plans for a “cautious and prudent approach” to leaving lockdown.
It is the latest in a long line of dodgy gags from Mr Johnson.
In 2017, when he was Foreign Secretary, he said the Libyan city of Sirte could be transformed into the new Dubai once “they clear the dead bodies” away.
The blunder came days after he was told off by the British Ambassador to Burma for reciting a colonial poem in a sacred temples.
Mr Johnson also came under fire for comparing Muslim women wearing niqabs to “letter boxes” in a Daily Telegraph column.
