BISD announces campus closures – Beaumont Enterprise

Published

Beaumont Independent School District announced Sunday night that school campuses and district buildings would be closed Monday and Tuesday because of the threat of Tropical Storm Beta. Students and staff will follow the virtual learning model during the closure and scheduled phase-in of in-person learning will be delayed.

From the school district’s news release:

Tropical Storm Beta is predicted to impact the Beaumont area with heavy rains and potential flooding.

Out of an abundance of caution for all students and staff, Beaumont ISD will close all campuses and district buildings on Monday and Tuesday, September 21-22, 2020. BISD is postponing its face-to-face phase-in of students scheduled to begin this week as well. All district events, including meal distributions, will also be suspended for Monday and Tuesday.

All BISD students and staff will switch to the district’s virtual learning model and conduct classes from their homes on Monday and Tuesday. BISD will continue to assess the weather and communicate a decision regarding the remainder of the week to students and staff by Tuesday afternoon.
