Arsenal vs Newcastle LIVE: Result and reaction from Premier League fixture tonight

80 mins: Aubameyang will have to wait his first Premier League hat-trick as he is replaced by Willian. Jeff Hendrick also comes on for Newcastle replacing Matty Longstaff. It’s a shame for Steve Bruce and Newcastle. He tried to make the team more attacking but has been caught out. Right idea, wrong opponent I think. 

77 mins: GOAL! Cedric is played into the box and runs the ball to the byline. He manages to keep it in play by the narrowest of margins, we’re talking millimetres, and cuts it back to his captain. Aubameyang is waiting all alone in the centre of the box and he side foots his shot past Darlow to cap off a great night for the Gunners. 

75 mins: It was evident from their Europa League group stages that Arsenal’s young players could offer Mikel Arteta a little something extra and so it’s been proved: 

72 mins: Thomas Partey has been fantasic tonight. He’s dominated and controlled Arsenal’s midfield in a very assured display but his night is done as Mohamed Elneny comes on for Arsenal. Newcastle also make a change as Jacob Murphy replaces Andy Carroll. 

69 mins: Arsenal keep up the pressure winning the ball back on the right side. Saka creates half a yard of space and puts in a decent cross to the far post. Lacazette is waiting and he wins the header sending it at goal. Darlow tracks the route of the ball and sticks out a right leg to deny the Gunners a third.

66 mins: Almost three! Newcastle’s pressure on the ball is nowhere near what it was in the first half and Arsenal are being given too much space. Aubameyang receives the ball in the box and plays it to Tierney on the overlap. He sends a cross into the six-yard area that a lunging Lacazette just misses out on. 

63 mins: Both Arsenal goals have come from attacks against a threadbare Newcastle defence after the visitors pushed players forwards and failed to capitalise on their chance. 

60 mins: GOAL! Beautiful. Arsenal work the ball easily up the pitch to Aubameyang who sends Smith-Rowe away to run into the box. He brings the ball in from the left, going past Lascelles, before cutting it back to Saka. Saka’s wide open and he shoots first time slotting it home with ease. 

57 mins: Arsenal are turning up the heat. Tierney puts on a burst of pace to get into the box and deliver a chipped cross into the middle. Lacazette collects and lays it to Partey. He sends it out to Cedric whose cross is headed away. 

54 mins: Newcastle are going to have to step up now. A give and go from Jamal Lewis results in a free kick on the left wing. Shelvey takes the set piece and picks out Wilson in the box. His header is the best and the ball loops softly into the hands of Leno.
