Arsenal were not in action this weekend due to the postponement of the north London derby and the club’s inability to field a team only highlights the need for new signings
Positive Covid-19 cases, injuries and African Cup of Nations commitments for Thomas Partey, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Mohamed Elneny were all factors in the Premier League‘s decision to postpone the clash – a ruling which was widely condemned by Spurs.
With Arteta’s squad so thin on the ground, the Spaniard is set for a crucial week as the club look to bring in a number of new faces with the race for Champions League qualification hotting up.
Amid reports that talks with a number of players are being held or have been targeted, Mirror Football brings you all the latest transfer gossip coming out of the Emirates.

Vlahovic nearing exit
Given the uncertainty surrounding the futures of Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah, the search for a new striker has very much been Arsenal’s priority for January.
Fiorentina frontman Dusan Vlahovic has been identified as the prime candidate to lead the line at the Emirates and the Gunners hopes of signing the Serb this month have been handing a significant boost.
According to La Repubblica, via Metro, the forward’s ‘future is moving further and further away from Florence,’ following reports of growing tensions between the Serie A side and the player’s agents.
It’s understood Vlahovic’s representatives have been demanding a £6.6million fee to seal a renewal at Fiorentina plus 10 per cent of any potential transfer fee, stipulations which have irked La Viola’s club president Rocco Commisso.
With 18 months left on his current deal, the Serie A club don’t want to risk letting Vlahovic head into the summer entering the final year of his contract and are reportedly determined to get maximum value for the striker now.
There are even murmurings that the Gunners have submitted a fresh bid of £50m plus Lucas Torreira for Vlahovic, according to Corriere della Sera.
Fresh Arthur talks planned

The Gunners made contact with Juve earlier this week over a loan deal for the Brazil international in the hope of addressing their midfield crisis.
However, after progressing well, transfer talks have since stalled with the Serie A side reluctant to part ways with Arthur unless they are able to sign a replacement who possesses similar attributes.
According to GOAL Italia, Arsenal officials will now meet with the Juventus hierarchy on Monday or Tuesday for further discussions as the Gunners look to push through a deal.
The 25-year-old has been used sparingly by Massimiliano Allegri this season, but did make his 13th appearance of the campaign on Saturday, starting in the Old Lady’s 2-0 triumph over Udinese.
Gunners eyeing Spence
While speculation over a new striker has dominated transfer talk in recent weeks, Arsenal could well be adding some defensive reinforcements to the ranks this month as they eye Nottingham Forest’s on-loan Djed Spence.
Spence is reportedly valued at around £10m by parent club Boro and any deal would have to be done on a loan back basis because he would be unable to play for a third different team this season.
It appears the north Londoners aren’t the only high-profile club keen on the right-back however, with Italian duo Roma and Inter Milan both believed to also be monitoring Spence following a number of eye-catching performances of late.
