Arsenal transfer round-up as Gunners eye relegated duo and starter wants to stay

Arsenal are bracing themselves for their first season without European football for the first time in 25 years as their miserable campaign draws to a conclusion.

The recent tame Europa League semi-final defeat against Villarreal summed up a forgettable season for the Gunners, with boss Mikel Arteta now coming under pressure.

There is little doubt that the club will be desperate to rejuvenate and strengthen their squad this summer while a number of peripheral squad players will likely be moved on.

The side conclude their campaign with a trip to Crystal Palace on Wednesday before hosting Brighton on the final day.

With that in mind, here is a look at the latest transfer rumours around the Emirates.

Fulham defender a target

Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo has emerged as a transfer target for both Arsenal and Newcastle, according to a report in The Athletic.

The 23-year-old has impressed as part of a back three for the Cottagers this campaign but has been unable to prevent their relegation back to the Championship.

Capable of playing as either a central defender or at right-back, Adarabioyo only joined Fulham from Manchester City last year but he could be on the move again this summer.

Having spent the past two seasons on loan at Championship clubs West Brom and Blackburn, the defender has impressed across 32 appearances this season.

It is claimed by French outlet Jeunes Footeux, as per Sport Witness, that Arsenal have made an offer of just below £17million while the Blades are hopeful of a deal closer to £25million.

Tottenham and Liverpool are also said to be monitoring the Norwegian midfielder’s situation, while it is claimed that around 15 percent of any transfer fee will go to his former club Genk.

Leno clarifies future

Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno has poured cold water on reports that he wants to leave the club and reaffirmed he wants to remain beyond this season.

The German international joined the Gunners from Bayer Leverkusen in 2018 but there have been suggestions he would be moved on this summer, but he has rejected suggestions he wants an exit.

“I don’t want to flee here, I feel good and want to be successful again with Arsenal! Arsenal are a big club, which is extremely underestimated in Germany, there are many Arsenal fans all over the world, he said in an interview with Sport1 .

“I still have a two-year contract and hope to play in the Champions League again with Arsenal. It is also clear that at some point in my career I want to do something different.

“So far I’ve played for two clubs. Maybe I’ll get the urge to play in another league again. Maybe in the south. But there is time, I’m still getting to the top goalkeeping age. But my focus is on Arsenal FC.”
