Arsenal are hopeful of continuing a busy summer in the transfer market.
Brazilian centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes is the most eye-catching arrival so far joining from Lille in a £27million deal. Fellow countryman Willian has joined him too with Dani Ceballos returning on a second season-long loan from Real Madrid.
Arteta is keen for more new faces as he continues to build a new squad, however. A new midfielder is a priority with Houssem Aouar of Lyon and Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey the primary options. Any further spend is likely to require sales though with right-back Hector Bellerin the likeliest to leave. PSG were interested in a loan but have moved on with the Gunners only after a permanent sale. Goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez will leave, however, with Aston Villa set to seal a deal for him to be their new No 1. Sokratis and Lucas Torreira have both been linked with Serie A and are expected to leave before the deadline. We will have all of the latest for you throughout the day:

BARCELONA TARGET BELLERIN ON LOAN
Barcelona have targeted Hector Bellerin on loan.
The Arsenal full-back is now closer to the exit after Mikel Arteta’s U-turn on the future of Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
And Marca report the Blaugrana will ask for Bellerin on loan, but could make a permanent offer if the Gunners reject that.
Their desire to add the Spaniard comes from plans to sell Nelson Semedo should an offer of around €40m arrive – Bellerin would be valued at around €30m and Barcelona would look to send a player to Arsenal of that value as their funds are limited currently.

TUCHEL RULES OUT BELLERIN MOVE
Thomas Tuchel has ruled out a move for Matteo Guendouzi.
The Arsenal midfielder was linked with a move back to PSG, in a swap move that would have sent Julian Draxler to the Emirates.
But the German boss was blunt when probed on his interest in the French midfielder: “No, that will not happen.”

POTTER EXPECTS CHELSEA TITLE CHALLENGE
Brighton boss Graham Potter believes Chelsea have unmistakable ambitions of mounting a Premier League title challenge following their hefty summer spending spree.
The Blues have splashed more than £200million to bring Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, Thiago Silva, Ben Chilwell and Malang Sarr to Stamford Bridge.
“The intention is clear – they want to compete, they want to compete at the top,” said Potter.
“They had a really good season last year in terms of finishing fourth with an embargo, introducing young players, and still managing to get into a Champions League spot was really good.
“I am guessing for a club like Chelsea and for somebody like Frank, who has competed at the top for all of his career, that they are going to push on and try to compete for the title.
“That’s pretty much what their intention looks like.
“They have recruited well, they’ve got some really good players, they’ve already got some really good players there so they will be a strong team, no doubt about that.”

EDU CONFIRMS ARSENAL TRANSFER STANCE
Edu has confirmed he will be in charge of transfers moving forward, following the dismissal of Raul Sanllehi.
The Brazilian will now oversee deals and liaise with Mikel Arteta on targets.
“It is important to be clear,” said Edu. ” What I would like is for everything football related to come through me.
“All the contacts, if agents want to talk to the player, internally, externally, outside people have to see me – and my name – as the first one to call or connect to.
“Of course we have a lot of people involved but I just want to be clear, people outside Arsenal have to understand who they need t connect to about football.
“It is important because sometimes they feel unclear about it. To be clear and open with you, that is how we are going to operate.”

NDOMBELE FALL-OUT AT TOTTENHAM
Tottenham’s record signing Tanguy Ndombele had showdown talks with chairman Daniel Levy at the back end of last season.
The Frenchman, who cost Spurs £55million from Lyon last season, flopped in a torrid first year in English football, suffering injury and fitness issues, and has been linked with a move away this summer.
Ndombele fell foul of boss Jose Mourinho, who publicly criticised him on two occasions, and gave him just 64 minutes of action in the final nine games of the season after the restart.
But Spurs are keen to give him time to prove his worth and a chat between the player and Levy is shown in the last episode of Amazon Prime Video’s All or Nothing series, which airs on Monday.
Asked by the chairman what went wrong in his first year at the club, Ndombele replied: “For three months I trained hard. Everybody says I trained really well, but if I don’t play it means there must be something else.
“I’m not concentrating as I should be. I am not 100 per cent. I’m a fighter. I’ve always fought. I’m here today because I fought. I have never given up in football or in life.”

ARSENAL CHIEF DISMISSES AGENT RUMOURS
Arsenal chief executive Vinai Venkatesham insists the club are not signing players based on who is their agent – claiming it would be a “crazy strategy”.
With his clients David Luiz, Cedric Soares and Willian moving to the Emirates Stadium in the last year, there have been some claims that Kia Joorabchian is now exerting too much influence over Arsenal’s transfer dealings.
There were some suggestions he also became part of the Gabriel Magalhaes transfer as the Brazil youth international defender joined from Lille last month.
But Venkatesham, whose promotion from managing director to chief executive was announced by the club on Thursday, strongly denied any hint that the identity of a player’s agent was a deciding factor in the recruitment process.

BELLERIN LEFT IN LIMBO
Hector Bellerin has been left in limbo at Arsenal.
The Gunners are looking to raise funds for new signings, primarily a new midfielder, with the Spanish right-back reluctantly one of the players being made available this summer.
PSG appeared ready to make a move for him but have instead opted for Alessandro Florenzi from Roma.
The Italian international will move initially on loan which appears to rule out a move for Bellerin.
Other suitors could yet emerge, however, with Barcelona one of a number of clubs credited with interest.
