Arsenal should not sign Manchester United target Jack Grealish, says Glen Johnson

Glen Johnson thinks Arsenal should swerve signing Manchester United transfer target Jack Grealish this summer.

Despite Grealish’s incredible form in a relegation-threatened side this season – scoring eight goals and providing six assists for Aston Villa – Johnson does not think he’s ‘established’ enough in the Premier League.

The 24-year-old has been heavily linked with a summer move to Old Trafford but with Villa holding out for more than £75million – a price United are unwilling to pay – his future remains uncertain.

Arsenal reportedly registered their interest in signing the Villa captain, but former Chelsea and Liverpool right-back Johnson thinks that would be a mistake.

‘They’re going to need players who know the Premier League,’ Johnson told Football London.

‘Some players come from different leagues and underestimate the Premier League, it can be very tough and difficult.

‘I think they’ll need to go for more established players within the Premier League.

‘I don’t think [Grealish would be a good signing]. He’s only had one season in the Premier League so that’s not established at all.

‘I wouldn’t be going for Jack Grealish if I’m Arsenal.

‘I think he’s a great player but I don’t think he fits at Arsenal and, financial wise, they’re not going to get that done anyway.’
